I am also somewhat at a loss to understand why the inclusion of the new file I sent would have delayed anything. This was sent with the corrected proofs and was an identical size to the original . It had merely to be sustituted with no implications for the organisation of the text. This will now cause serious confusion as not only is the wrong low frequency curve included , but ,as I said earlier, I have cited this paper as the source of the correct curve in at least one other publication. Although it may not seem significant to a publisher , to those working to produce low-frequency histories of Northern Hemisphere temperatures, and those seeking to compare and contrast different sources, this will muddy the waters significantly. I also consider it a liberty on behalf of the editor to take this decision and then to not have the decency to let me know earlier. This at least would have prevented me citing the paper. I have to say again that I am not happy about this and I would certainly consider some correction in a later issue appropriate.
