I hope you may be able to find a few minutes to talk with me on the phone. In brief, the film I am making is a vision of the future - an attempt to raise interest in global warming through envisioning its consequences, not just in terms of science, but also politics, demographics, etc. The aim is to take the best of today's knowledge, and forge it into a scenario of the 100 years to come, to create a story of one of our possible futures. The focus is the *effect* of climate change - from storms to mass migrations, shifting climate belts to agricultural collapse, impending ice age to international water wars... ...a rather big subject for a 50 minute documentary! Unsurprisingly, I need all the guidance I can get. As well as looking for on-screen contributors for the programme, I need off-screen advice about what issues to highlight, appropriate locations for filming - and as many alternative visions of the next 100 years as I can gather together. To establish my bona fides: Pioneer Productions has a long track record in climate and weather-based documentaries. I made 'Electric Skies' for Pioneer (one of the first ever weather films - about lightning, for 'Equinox' on Channel 4) almost 10 years ago. I also made 'Raging Planet' with they, and they have produced many more besides... My own most recent project was producing 'Space' - the BBC1 series with Sam Neill. If you feel it might be productive for us to talk, could you perhaps let me know at time and number by email, or call me on the numbers below? As usual with TV projects these days, we're on a short fuse; I'm keen to get cracking as quickly as I can. I shall look forward to hearing from you. Yours sincerely, Richard Burke-Ward Pioneer Productions Voyager House 32 Galena Road London, W6 0LT (t) (+44) 20 8748 0888 x239 (f) (+44) 20 8748 7888 www.pioneertv.com cc: Mandy Cohen, Researcher
