thanks Phil,
please treat the attached as confidential (mine and also a copy of Ray's that he sent
me). They are being provided to the media w/ an embargo until midnight sunday (since the
committee officially receives these monday morning).
I'm happy to be settling in at Penn State now, though I wish I could focus on that lone
and didn't have the nuisance of this other stuff to deal w/.
i hope your summer is going well,
mike

Mike,
Thanks. It would appear that you're doing a joint response, which
seems a good idea. Thanks in advance for the draft, when you can send it.
I notice the new email address. I'll make sure I use this in future. It is
even shorter now !
Hope you're settling in and getting a warm welcome.
Cheers
Phil

HI Phil,
Thanks--well, needless to say been very busy w/ the response to this inquiry, but we're
pretty happy w/ the way things are going. I'll provide you a draft of our formal
response once I can.
Meanwhile, I've attached some of the articles/statements/etc that have come out in
support of us. This is proving very helpful, and ultimately may be a deciding factor in
forcing these guys into retreat.
more soon,
mike

Mike,
Hope the move is going well ! Nice to see the pieces by Rich Monastersky and Tom
Crowley and the letter from AAAS (that Kevin sent me).
Didn't realize you had a deadline to reply to. Hope that is going well also.
Sent a reminder to Scott about the data - no rush, away most of the next week
and still have a lot to do on IPCC.
Cheers
Phil
