Dates of 'PAGES Workshop on South Asian Palaeoenvironments' (PW-SAP): February 4-5, 1999 (Fri, Sat). Dr Rupa Kumar Kolli, who is organising the visit poses the following question: "Regarding the excursion, do you think the SSC members will be able to spare two days for an overnight trip to the Ajanta and Ellora caves ? This trip costs around US $100 per head inclusive of transport, refreshments and a night's stay in 5-star hotel (provided a minimum participation of about 12 persons is assured). If a majority of the members are unable to find time, we will explore other interesting places closer to Pune. In any case, we would prefer to have the excursion immediately before the SSC meeting." This may indeed be an exciting experience (how many of you saw "Passage to India"?) and it would be very helpful to have some idea of how keen you would be to spend two days on this excursion, bearing in mind that it would, I think, be appropriate for us to make some personal financial contribution (as well as for PAGES to offer modest subsidy). Please let me know your response to the above as soon as possible.
