date: Tue, 2 Mar 1999 11:07:44 -0500 (EST) from: mann@snow.geo.umass.edu subject: thanks to: k.briffa@uea.ac.uk Thanks Keith, Will take a look at this as soon as I have the chance (visiting at Woods Hole right now--the place is a resort!). Malcolm is also getting some very interesting new long chronologies in the western U.S., and as you say, I think we're going to be in the position soon to start saying something about even longer timescales, although the undercalibration of low-frequency variance could be a fundamental limitation at these timescales too, relating to your comment of course about non-uniformitarianism. I'm looking forward to closer interaction with you, Phil, and Tim in the months ahead. If our NSF grant is approved, it will provide more support for that. Talk to you soon, mike _______________________________________________________________________ Michael E.
