Whilst it sounds good and worthy, and while we can make helpful comments and provide signposts to funding - as Elaine implies in her reply; the Carbon Trust might be one such source and DTI may have other streams - I can't see how Tyndall funds can be mobilised in support of this type of RD&D venture. Your call, however, must obviously have been very persuasive! He particularly called for responses from anyone with ideas which might have a really significnat impact rather than an incremental one. My company has developed such a technology during the last 6 months which is now at the patent pending stage. This reduces the power consumption (and associated CO2 emissions) of large refrigeration systems by around 40%. ETSU are keen to support the development of a prototype system and Tesco and Linde are meeting on the 15th October to agree on a workplan and development costs. Recently we have come up with another equally good idea to save energy which will have widespread application in heating and air conditioning. We are still working on the patent specification so I cannot tell you much about it without a non-disclosure agreement being signed. It is for this that we are now seeking development support. I am simply responding to Brian Launder's plea for good ideas but maybe I misread his comments. With best regards, Tom Davies __________________________ From: "Elaine Jones" To: "Tom Davies" Subject: Re: tyndall funds Date: Wed, 3 Oct 2001 15:37:00 +0100 Professor Davies, Regret that Tyndall is not involved with RD&D for specific technologies and we do not have any development funds. If you would like to briefly outline the category of the proposal I should be able to advise on contacts for potential support. It is also likely that there are experts within the Tyndall consortium who would be able to offer useful comment on a proposal, if appropriate. Please, do not hesitate to contact us on above or other matters. Kind Regards, Elaine
