Have you heard anything informally from NERC about the status of PRESCIENT
(except for the recent email from Lesley Aspinall)?
I am beginning to hear rumours that PRESCIENT is likely to be axed, to
make way for the Rapid Climate Change proposal. This thermohaline proposal
has got accelerated because of high level support, and PRESCIENT seems to
have been arbitarily chosen to be killed. If this is indeed the
current situation, I feel that we should try and do some lobbying.
There were several other ways that NERC could have raised the money, such
as stopping all second and third calls on existing thematic proposals.
